The local high school football stadium known as H. A. Eggerss Stadium was a WPA project dedicated September 18 1936, the night of the first high school football game held there. Hans Eggerss, founder of the Continental Can Co. which had a factory in Van Wert, provided the money and chaired the citizens committee.
